Academic service Center tool

History and Background

The Central Instrument Center, Faculty of Science and Technology, Prince of Songkla University, was established in 1999 with the objective of being a center for instruments for teaching, research, and academic services in sample analysis for internal and external units of the Faculty. This is to save budget for the purchase of expensive equipment that is duplicated in various departments of the faculty, to create unity in providing academic services, and to generate income for the faculty.

Administrative Structure of the Central Instrument Center

The Central Instrument Center is an agency under the supervision of the Office of the Faculty Secretary, which is an agency within the Faculty of Science and Technology. The administration and structure of the Central Instrument Center consists of 2 committees: the Executive Committee and the Operations Committee. The Executive Committee is responsible for setting guidelines for the Center’s operations and monitoring and evaluating the Center’s Operations Committee’s performance. The Operations Committee is responsible for managing and providing services to the Center, inspecting and maintaining instruments, and operating in accordance with the Executive Committee’s policies. The Executive Committee is divided into various divisions to operate in accordance with the policies: the Administrative Division, the Service Division, and the Instrument Division, as follows:

Location

The Central Instrument Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Preclinical Building (Building 71) with 8 laboratories at the Central Instrument Center:

  1. Office Room (Room 71207)
  2. HPLC Instrument Room
  3. Freeze Dryer Room
  4. AAS Room
  5. ICP Room
  6. FTIR and Spectrometer Room
  7. Sample Preparation and Water Analysis Room
  8. Glassware and Chemical Room
