Master – Applied Biology – Science and Technology

Master of Science (M.Sc.)
Applied Biology

Master Program in Applied Biology provides the opportunity to study the fundamentals of biology as well as offering a range of more specialized biological subjects and their applications. The students are encouraged to explore different approaches, gain practical experience, broaden their appreciation of biology-related employment and achieve the integral thinking methodology in various aspects including microbiology, molecular genetics, plant tissue culture, environmental toxicology and ecology to solve such problems. In addition, the students will have opportunities to learn from field-based studies in communities since academic staffs of Biology Section have close-association with locals and have been working on various projects to bring sustainable natural resource management. Students will be able to choose the topic of the Master’s thesis within a subject covered by the courses under supervision. The ability to plan and organize is developed through their research project, which is supervised by a member of academic staff.

   What You Will Learn

  • Content in a broad range of biology topics
  • Research methods in specific area of faculty interest
  • Use of state-of-the-art instruments

   Research Opportunity

Faculty research areas include:

  • Characterization of bacteriocinogenic bacteria and its application in food and aquaculture
  • Thermostable proteases and its applications
  • Identification and characterization of digestive enzymes in fish gut
  • Determination of bacterial community in shrimp gut by DGGE
  • Histology and Ultrastructure of  the reproductive system of gastropods
  • Tick-Borne Diseases
  • Bacillus spp. as biological control agent
  • Antimicrobial activity of marine bacteria
  • Chromosome, Karyotype and Ideogram of small mammal, fish, reptile and amphibian

   Program Requirements

This program consists of 36 credits. Students who apply for the master’s program in applied biology must have earned a bachelor’s degree in biology or in a field with a substantial biological background, such as biological education, marine science, aquaculture, animal science, crop science, biochemistry, and etc.
