Philosophy and Objectives of the Program

Produce PhD graduates who are leaders and academic supporters who can integrate their knowledge and skills in rubber and polymer technology with other disciplines to further develop existing knowledge, create new knowledge or create innovations, and help solve problems in their professional fields for the benefit of the country’s economic and social development.

Lecturers in polymer or rubber technology at universities, professional researchers or academics in polymer or rubber technology at higher education institutions and research institutes in both the public and private sectors, executive-level personnel in the industrial sector, and consultants to businesses or entrepreneurs in polymer or rubber technology.

Number of credits studied throughout the course

Form 1.1 and 2.1 for those who have completed a master’s degree, not less than 48 credits, 3-year course

Form 1.2 and 2.2 for those who have completed a bachelor’s degree, not less than 72 credits, a 4-year course

Form 1.1 Completed a master’s degree or equivalent in science, engineering, or related fields with a cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.50, or if graduated from a program that only involves a thesis, must have a very good thesis and have an English test result as announced by the Graduate School.

Form 2.1 Completed a master’s degree or equivalent in science, engineering, or related fields with a cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.00, or if graduated from a program that only involves a thesis, must have a good thesis and have an English test result as announced by the Graduate School.

Form 1.2 Completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in science, engineering, or related fields with a cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.50 and have an English test result as announced by the Graduate School.

Form 2.2 Completed a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in science, engineering, or related fields with a cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.00 and have an English test result as announced by the Graduate School.

*** However, qualifications other than those specified above are at the discretion of the Program Administration Committee.

  • The quality of the doctoral degree is recognized nationally and internationally. It can be employed in leading educational institutions, research institutes, and private companies both in and outside the country, such as in the Netherlands, Germany, the People’s Republic of China, and Malaysia.
  • The double degree program with the University of Twente, the Netherlands, has 5 graduates, with more than 30 publications in international academic journals, and there are beneficiaries of the research results who are co-funders.
  • The research results can be patented.
  • There are many publications resulting from the research results in international academic journals, such as Web of Science and SCOPUS.
  • There is a tangible research cooperation network with leading universities in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan, and Malaysia.
  • The Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award in Physical Sciences of the University in 2013
